What are the Best Breast Implants?

There are many reasons you may be considering a breast augmentation. Perhaps you’re unhappy with the size or shape of breasts that you were genetically given. Or, maybe you’ve encountered volume loss after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or the natural aging process. Either way, implants may be the solution you’re looking for to enhance the shape and size of your breasts.

When it comes to breast implants, there are numerous options available. Why? Because every woman is unique and has her own idea about what is aesthetically pleasing to her. In most cases, the implant type you choose boils down to personal preference. There are several things to consider when figuring out what the best breast implant for you might be. Let’s take a look.

Desired Shape & Feel

Round implants are not round like a ball – rather they are shaped more like a muffin top.  In the standing upright position they tend to shift into a teardrop shape, while they take the muffin top shape when you are lying on your back.  The true teardrop shaped implants, promoted heavily by the implant manufacturers, do not provide any additional “teardrop” shape, and are no longer popular.  In addition, the teardrop shape implants are all textured, and textured implants have issues which have made them a poor choice for most women.  Silicone gel implants tend to have a more natural, softer feel.

Incision & Placement

Saline implants are filled to desired fullness at the time of your procedure. Silicone gel implants, however, are pre-filled. With silicone gel implants, the incision length is determined by the size of the implant, while the length of the incision for saline implants is almost always significantly shorter and unrelated to final implant size since they are all placed while deflated and filled via a removable tube once they are in place. Saline implants tend to require a smaller incision making scars less noticeable down the line.

Safety & FDA-Approval

When performed correctly, breast augmentation surgery is a fairly straightforward procedure with a low risk for complications. Both saline and silicone gel implants have the potential to rupture. Saline implants typically last 10 – 15 years, and sometimes much longer.  Silicone gel implants were redesigned in 2006 and tend to last substantially longer than saline implants. Women with silicone implants are recommended to have regular mammogram checks for potentially “silent ruptures”.

Saline implants are FDA-approved for women 18-years of age or older. Silicone implants are FDA-cleared for women 22+. There are no upper age restrictions with the procedure. As long as you’re an otherwise healthy adult, breast augmentation surgery is an option for you.

What’s Right for You?

At the time of your confidential consultation, we’ll thoroughly discuss all of your options. I’ll show you over 50 before and after photos to help give you an idea of what to expect. Although each woman is unique, I can show you pictures that will closely relate to your predicted results based on body type and desired implant.

Breast augmentation surgery is often paired with complementary procedures such as a breast lift for enhanced results. A breast lift is able to address breasts that are sagging or misshapen as well as reposition the nipple higher for a perkier appearance.

My goal is to help you make an informed decision about what’s right for you. Of course, I will be available to provide guidance every step of the way. Having helped thousands of women achieve their desired contours, I’ll be able to determine and educate you as to what options are available and suitable.

Great, great and great. Dr Barnett is an artist. I trust his work and judgement. He knows how to turn your clock back naturally. The absolute best
